After a series of incidents that had taken place at the borders throughout 2020, the Indian Army once again got involved in violence at the borders with Pakistan after the latter started the conflict out of nowhere. As soon as Pakistan started attacking India, the Indian Army gave it back right away by firing at the bunkers, posts, and fuel dumps across the Line of Control in Kashmir. As per the sources, over 8 Pakistani soldiers lost their lives in the retaliation attack conducted by India on Friday. Meanwhile, four Indian soldiers and four civilians also passed away.
While the military confrontation is going on with China at the eastern Ladakh, this happened on the other side with Pakistan. With everything included, India has encountered over 4,052 ceasefire violations by Pakistan breaking all the records that were there for 17 years. Over 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives in total, and almost 25 civilians.
Coming to the weaponry, both sides made frequent use of 105mm, 155mm artillery guns, anti-tank guided missiles, and heavy mortars targeting each other. The incident has happened at the 778-km long LoC, where Baramulla, Dawar, Keran, Uri, and Naugam are included. Along with this, a vital infiltration has taken place at the Keran sector of Kupwara.
Talking about the incident, a senior officer said, “Pakistan deliberately targeted our civilian areas. Our troops retaliated strongly and hit them very hard, causing substantial damage to Pakistan Army& infrastructure across the LoC. Several ammunition and FOL (fuels, oils, and lubricants) dump and multiple terrorist launch pads were damaged in our retaliatory strikes.”
He further added, “Radio intercepts suggest six to seven Pakistan Army soldiers, including two Special Service Group (SSG) commandos, who are often involved in BAT (border action team) operations, were killed in our fire. Another 10-12 were injured.”
A number of video clips of the incidents were recorded on mobile phones.
