IPL: All The Records Broken By DC After Today’s WIN Against DC

This year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) has been going pretty well like every year. In what turned out to be a typical encounter, unlike most of the matches at the end, Delhi Capitals (DC) outsmarted Royal Challenges Bangalore (RCB) in Match 55. DC scripted the win by six wickets, as they finish in the second spot. On the other hand, various records were broken in this encounter today, let us take a look at them, one by one:

This year, one of the anticipated youngsters, Devdutt Padikkal has had a glorious season. While he scored 50 tonight, he has managed to score 472 runs this season, thus being RCB’s highest run-scorer so far. In the process, he has also become the uncapped debutant with the second-highest runs in his maiden IPL season. The record for the same is held by Shaun Marsh (616) for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in 2008.

In addition to that, he scored the most 50-plus scores (5) by an Indian in the debut season, going past Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer.

Meanwhile, skipper Virat Kohli managed to score 29 runs tonight. He also scored more than 160 runs in the tournament to date against Ashwin, as it is the most runs he has scored against a bowler. Furthermore, as Ashwin dismissed him, it was the first occasion that he had been dismissed by the former.

It took Ashwin 125 balls to get rid of him, which happens to be the most faced by a batsman against a particular bowler to get dismissed for the first time.

Simultaneously, Shikhar Dhawan managed to play a remarkable knock of 54 tonight. As a result, he has scored 525 runs this season. Consequently, he has become the third player in the tournament to score 500-plus runs in a season on most occasions. While Dhawan has done so four times, the record for the same is held by Kohli and David Warner, who have done so on five instances.

After winning the toss, DC skipper Shreyas Iyer opted to bowl first, as RCB’s Padikkal (50), along with AB de Villiers (35), helped them post a modest total of 152/7, while Anrich Nortje claimed 3/33. In response to that, the DC batsmen held their nerves, as it was Dhawan (50), along with Ajinkya Rahane (60), who did the job for the side.
